Mustard oil is good or bad for health ?
Several years ago, mustard
oil was banished from the kitchen with a 'heart-harmful' image. But whether
this is true or false, there is a lot of research in the interim. So it is
known that mustard oil contains only eight percent saturated fatty acids. The remaining
92 percent are unsaturated fatty acids. Every 100 grams of mustard oil contains
10 grams of alpha-linolenic acid (Omega 3). And linoleic acid (omega 6) 12
grams. Omega 6 fatty acids help prevent heart disease. The ratio of Omega 3 and
Omega 6 in mustard oil is roughly 1:1. In fact, mustard oil is not harmful to
the heart at all due to the presence of high levels of alpha-linolenic acid.
Another thing is that because of the presence of a fatty acid called uric acid
in mustard oil, mustard oil increases the risk of heart attack. However, studies
have shown such notions to be completely wrong.
