'Humans should eat to live, not live to eat'.
The main purpose of our eating and drinking is to create enough pure blood,
heat, and energy in the body and to satisfy the taste buds. Experiments by
American nutritionists have proved the belief in Indian philosophy that the
best time to eat is from one hour after waking up in the morning until sunset,
during which time the body's internal heat increases and food is easily
digested and gains more energy. According to them, eating late, also after
sunset slows down the digestion process and causing more fat and stomach upset.
Adequate intake of raw and cooked vegetables and fruits of all seasons is
required daily. Our stomach is a special instrument. So, one should stop eating
at least once or twice a week to rest the stomach. At that time fruit juice or
boiled water can be eaten. However, keep in mind that you should not stay on an
empty stomach for more than three hours. There is a fear of ulcers. Even if you
don't eat food, you need to drink water.
